Condition: Excellent
Manufacturer: Hauptmünzamt Wien
This is a gorgeous, outstanding example of a very desirable maker-marked mid-war Zinc Gold Wound Badge. The badge is in excellent condition. Its maker is marked “30” on the reverse, indicating that it was manufactured by the Vienna Mint (Hauptmünzamt Wien). This manufacturer is known for their exceptionally high-quality wound badges; this example is no exception. It’s made of Feinzinc, and feels very heavy in the hand. It has a beautiful, fire-gilded gold finish. The heavy original finish retains lots of original luster and is more than 90 percent present. There is some minor finish wear to the high points on the front, especially the swastika, which exposes the grey-colored base metal. The hardware on the reverse of this Gold Wound Badge is intact, functional, and without repair, and is absolutely textbook for this maker. This Gold Wound Badge is a desirable variant of a hard-earned combat badge.

World War 2 was one of the most significant conflicts in modern history. Millions of soldiers and civilians died in the fierce battles between the Allies and the Axis.
Tales of courage and sacrifices still live in the military artifacts that remain in our grandparents’ attics, basements, and footlockers. Iron Cross HQ is very proud to offer a wide selection of WWII uniforms, WWII field gear, weapons, medals, decorations, photos, and more, for sale at Iron Cross HQ Store. Reproduction items and originals are available for Militaria collectors and reenactors.
Iron Cross HQ, as the seller of War memorabilia, would like to emphasize that these items are sold as historical artifacts and collectibles, and not intended to promote or glorify war, violence, or any extremist ideology.
