The original black wound badge (Verwundetenabzeichen) has a wide hinge setup. It is a textbook but uncommon piece in very good condition, still retaining most of its original black factory finish. Nicely marked “32,” indicating production by Wilhelm Hobacher of Wien. The back of the badge is typical for this maker; Hobacher used loads of soldering to attach their hardware, creating large areas of solder on the top and bottom of the badge’s back.
This Black Wound Badge, crafted by renowned manufacturer Wilhelm Hobachter of Wien, is a striking piece of World War II history. Designed to honor wounded soldiers in service, this badge features an intricate design with a distinctive black finish, symbolizing bravery and sacrifice. It encompasses a unique combination of detailed craftsmanship and historical significance, making it an essential addition for militaria collectors and history enthusiasts. Whether displayed in a collection or cherished as a collectible, the Black Wound Badge serves as a poignant reminder of the valor exhibited by soldiers during turbulent times.
